How to version your workflows

When you modify your workflows - by adding or removing elements, altering label names, rearranging elements, and so on - these changes can directly affect both new and existing activities. For instance, if you remove an element, it will no longer be visible in historical activities, although the data is not deleted - it's merely hidden.

Typically, workflow modifications over time are minimal and seldom impact historical activities significantly.

However, if you'd rather not have such effects, you have the option to duplicate the existing workflow, assign it a version number, and then deactivate the previous workflow. Please bear in mind that for reporting and dashboard purposes, these will be regarded as two distinct workflows. We generally suggest this approach only for alterations that significantly diverge the new workflow from the original.
